«Département de l’Isère» is the main public authority in the Isère district, and thus one of the major public authorities in the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region.  «Département de l’Isère» is responsible for intercity road network, intercity public transport network management, natural risks monitoring, high schools management, social, cultural and tourism service. Its overall budget amounts to 1.5 billion in 2017 and the number of employees is around 4600.

For several years, «Département de l’Isère» has had an advanced policy in the field of innovation and has also developed an expertise on innovative projects with inputs from use cases through its participation in European collaborative projects, either as partner or as coordinator.
